Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the unveiling of five new ultra-modern hostel facilities, reinforcing its strategic policy to evolve into a fully residential campus.
The management is encouraging fresh and returning full-time undergraduate students to prioritise on-campus accommodation, highlighting its academic, safety, and social benefits.
This milestone, achieved through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement, reflects LASU’s commitment to student welfare, academic excellence, and the creation of a vibrant campus life.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, urged students, particularly newly admitted candidates, and their parents or guardians, to embrace the opportunity provided by the university-managed hostels. According to her, campus accommodation not only boosts academic performance but also nurtures community spirit, belonging, and personal growth.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello noted the increasing challenges students face when seeking accommodation outside the university, including fraudulent practices by agents and landlords who exploit them through fake online advertisements. She warned that such scams often lead to financial loss and psychological stress for unsuspecting students.
The Vice-Chancellor also pointed to recurring tensions between students and surrounding host communities, stressing that living on campus provides a safer, more reliable alternative. She maintained that the new facilities will further enhance LASU’s mission of providing a secure and enabling environment for learning.
Applications for hostel spaces can be completed through the university’s official portal: www.lasu.edu.ng/hostel.
