MAUTECH Graduates Receive Presidential NYSC Award and Automatic Employment
Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola have been honoured with the President’s NYSC Honours Award (2020–2023) in recognition of their exemplary service, community impact, and dedication during their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.
Tijjani Musa Imam, a 2020 graduate of Operations Research, distinguished himself during his service in Kano State. He won medals in Drama and Cultural activities at the orientation camp, served as Corps Liaison Officer (CLO), and executed impactful projects, including donating school uniforms, training students in tailoring, organizing academic competitions, and providing agricultural seedlings and food baskets to his host community.
Bassey Joseph, a 2021 graduate of Science Laboratory Technology, served in Borno State where he diligently carried out his teaching assignment at Sasilka Nursery, Primary and Junior Secondary School. Beyond the classroom, he rehabilitated the only hand pump borehole in his host community, restoring access to potable water for residents.
Instituted in 1974, the President’s NYSC Honours Award is the highest national recognition for corps members who demonstrate courage, innovation, hard work, and selfless service. It comes with automatic employment for recipients.
Both awardees have brought pride to Modibbo Adama University by exemplifying excellence and community development through the NYSC scheme.
The awardees, were presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Aliyu Bawuro Mustapha, and Dr. Umar Modibbo.
Receiving the awardees in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, commended their achievements and congratulated them for making the university proud. He assured them of his continuous support and encouraged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the university wherever they find themselves.
In recognition of their efforts, the Vice-Chancellor also offered them lecturing opportunities at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, should they choose to take it.
