LASUCOM Holds Mock Accreditation Ahead of Radiography, MLS Assessments
Ahead of forthcoming accreditation exercises for the Radiography and Medical Laboratory Science programmes, the University conducted a mock accreditation exercise yesterday, Tuesday 31st March, to assess the College’s level of preparedness.
The internal appraisal was designed to evaluate readiness and identify areas requiring improvement ahead of the official visits by the Professional Bodies of the respective programmes.
The accreditation for the Radiography programme by the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) is scheduled to hold next week from Monday 6th of April to Wednesday 8th, while the Medical Laboratory Science accreditation will take place later in the month.
Speaking on the exercise whilst receiving the team from Ojo, the Provost of LASUCOM, Prof. Olufemi Idowu, noted that the College has developed a clear strategy to ensure a successful outcome.
“We have a game plan towards ensuring success, and we appreciate a truthful assessment before the main exercise,” he said.
He stressed that the mock accreditation provides an opportunity for honest evaluation and necessary adjustments before the arrival of external assessors.
The mock accreditation committee was led by the University’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Olanrewaju John, who is familiar with the College’s academic environment.
She explained that the team had been working closely with the concerned faculty and departments in the lead-up to the exercise.
“We have been liaising with the concerned faculty and departments for weeks to ensure readiness,” she said.
As part of the exercise, the committee reviewed academic and administrative documents and inspected offices and facilities within the College. The process was carried out with the support of the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Oluwaleke Sokunbi, and the Faculty Officer, Mr. Adekoya, under whose purview the programmes fall.
The mock exercise is expected to strengthen the College’s preparedness and reinforce its commitment to maintaining high academic and professional standards.
