LASUCOM Medical Student Secures ₦50 Million Venture Capital Grant for Innovative Startup
In a landmark achievement for student entrepreneurship, Faaiz Abdul-Liadi, a final-year medical student at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), has been awarded the prestigious Student Venture Capital Grant worth Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000).
Out of a massive pool of over 30,000 applicants nationwide, Abdul-Liadi’s innovative project emerged as one of only 45 successful entries to receive the equity-free funding. The grant recognizes high-potential student ventures capable of driving significant societal impact.
To mark the milestone, a delegation led by the Deputy Provost of LASUCOM, Professor Sunday S. Soyemi, and College Secretary, Ms. Ayomipo S. Fagbenro, presented the award recipient to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the University Senate Building on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Receiving the student, Professor Olatunji-Bello expressed immense pride in the feat, stating that the university remains steadfast in fostering an environment where academic excellence meets practical innovation.
"Faaiz's success is a testament to the fact that LASU students are not just future professionals, but current solution-providers capable of competing on a national stage," the Vice-Chancellor remarked.
This win underscores LASU's rising profile as a hub for innovation, proving that medical students are increasingly breaking boundaries by merging healthcare insights with entrepreneurial ventures.
