LASUED and TRCN Formally License 929 New Educators at 2025 Second Diet Induction
The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), in partnership with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), successfully inducted 929 new professionals into the teaching workforce on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
The 2025 Second Diet Induction Ceremony, held simultaneously at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall (Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus) and the Epe Campus, saw graduates across various levels—including PhD, Master’s, PDE, PGDE, Degree, and NCE—officially licensed to practice both within Nigeria and internationally.
In her keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor of LASUED, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, described the ceremony as a convergence of academic excellence and professional ethics. She emphasized that the university’s collaboration with the TRCN is fundamental to maintaining high standards in the education sector.

"Modern educators must evolve beyond traditional roles to become mentors, innovators, and digital guides," Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye remarked, urging the inductees to remain ethically grounded while navigating a rapidly changing global landscape.
Representing the Registrar of the TRCN, Dr. Aderonke Soyombo, the Council’s representative Dr. Mary Aba highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at professionalizing the sector. These include the strengthening of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) and the transition to digital registration systems to ensure only qualified individuals enter the classroom.
The Director of the Directorate of Teaching Practice, Dr. (Mrs.) Akinkotu Foluke Abimbola, also congratulated the inductees, marking the transition from trainees to certified nation-builders.
The event reaffirms LASUED's position as a premier institution dedicated to producing high-quality, licensed educators equipped to shape the future of Nigerian education.
