LASUED VC Commissions Refurbished Chemistry Laboratory Donated by VitaFoam Nigeria Plc

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, has commissioned a refurbished Chemistry Laboratory at the university’s Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus.

The facility, refurbished by VitaFoam Nigeria Plc, was commissioned on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the teaching and learning environment for staff and students of the institution.

Speaking at the commissioning, Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye expressed appreciation to the VitaFoam Nigeria Plc delegation for supporting the university through the initiative. She commended the company for considering the refurbishment project and described it as a laudable contribution to the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor said the university management was committed to ensuring that LASUED continues to make progress across all areas.

“We are interested in how the university grows, as a management,” she said.

Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye also specifically acknowledged the facilitator of the project, Prof. Olatoun Rachel Okunuga, who is currently serving at LASUED on sabbatical from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). She commended Prof. Okunuga for playing a pivotal role in bringing the project to the university.

She also congratulated the Dean of the College of Science Education (COSED), Prof. Oginni Aderonke Margaret, for recording the achievement during her tenure as Dean of the College.

The Vice-Chancellor wished VitaFoam Nigeria Plc well in its future endeavours and called on wealthy individuals, as well as public and private organisations, to support universities and the education sector through impactful initiatives.

She noted that VitaFoam Nigeria Plc’s intervention had created a symbiotic relationship between the company and LASUED, expressing optimism that the partnership would continue to grow.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of VitaFoam Nigeria Plc and leader of the delegation, Mr Taiwo Adeniyi, explained that the refurbishment and commissioning of the Chemistry Laboratory was the company’s way of appreciating the university management.

He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for making the initiative possible and appreciated the university management for providing the opportunity for VitaFoam to give back to society.

According to him, the relationship between VitaFoam Nigeria Plc and LASUED would continue to produce positive outcomes and yield many great things.

The commissioning ceremony was anchored by the Head of LASUED Campus, Odo-Noforija, Epe, Prof. Olumuyiwa Viatonu Anthony.
