LAUTECH VC Tasks New SUG Executives on Peace, Integrity, Responsible Leadership

The Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Prof. Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, has charged newly elected Students' Union Government (SUG) executives to uphold peace, integrity and responsible leadership throughout their tenure

Prof. Kalilu gave charge on Monday, October 5, 2026, when new students' union executives, led by President Mubaraq Famakin of Department of Mechanical Engineering, paid him courtesy visit in his office.

Vice-Chancellor urged student leaders to be good ambassadors of University, warning them to shun vandalism, violence and any act capable of tarnishing their names or image of University.

He also charged them not to allow degeneration of University environment, while encouraging them to remain focused on goals and build legacy worthy of remembrance.

Prof. Kalilu assured Union of Management's support, urging executives to freely approach him and other members of Management whenever they require guidance or encounter challenges.

He advised them to shun wrong counsel and avoid taking misguided steps that could place them at cross purposes with Management or attract sanctions capable of derailing academic careers.

"You should be guided by right principles. You should be guided by institutional goals and by legacies you want to leave, so that you do not fall prey to people who have no serious work to do," he said

Vice-Chancellor disclosed arrangements were being made for Students' Union to take over administration of student welfare insurance.

Earlier, SUG President, Mubaraq Famakin, appreciated University Management for its inclusive leadership and commitment to improving University environment.

Courtesy visit was attended by members of University Management, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Innovation), Prof. Dauda Araromi; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management and Operations), Prof. Tunde Ogunkunle; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development and Partnerships), Prof. Lukman Sumonu; and University Bursar, Mr. Kehinde Olatokun.

Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. John Adepoju, was also in attendance, alongside Deputy Dean I, Dr. Olufisayo Adebimpe; Deputy Dean II, Dr. Michael Ajadi; and Deputy Dean III, Dr. D.O Oyeleye.

Other SUG executives present included Vice-President I, Esther Lawalson; Vice-President II, Sobur Ajibola; General Secretary, Mahfiz Asafa; Assistant General Secretary, Timileyin Omotosho; Financial Secretary, Jesutosin Isola; Welfare Director, Abdurahmon Adesokan; Public Relations Officer, Nasirudeen Oyetoro; Social Director, Farouq Semiu; and Sports Director, Abdulsemiu Mikail.
