Meet Professor Bashir Garba, MFR, 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of UDUS
Professor Bashir Garba is the 10th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS). He officially assumed office on September 1, 2024.
A Professor of Applied Chemistry, he became one of Nigeria's youngest professors after attaining the rank at the age of 36. He earned his BSc. in Applied Chemistry from UDUS in 1988, a Master's degree from the University of Jos in 1994, and a Ph.D. from UDUS in 1998.
Before becoming UDUS Vice-Chancellor, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, Commissioner in the Sokoto State Executive Council, Rector of Sokoto State Polytechnic, and held several leadership positions in the Energy Commission of Nigeria.

In recognition of his contributions to education and national development, he was awarded the national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
