A five-storey building under construction at the Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) in Onitsha, Anambra State, collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday, June 12. The collapse, occurring around 7:15 am, sent shockwaves through the commercial hub of the state.

The structure, which was nearing completion, was part of an expansion project overseen by the Anglican School authorities to accommodate the growing educational needs of the region. Eyewitnesses recounted a deafening noise as the building crumbled, engulfing the surroundings in a cloud of dust.
