Nasarawa State University VC Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, news story Calls for Grassroots Sports Development
Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has emphasized the need for grassroots sports development and early preparation to improve Nigeria's sporting sector.
Speaking during a meeting with Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, CEO of FOSLA Academy, Professor Liman noted that the country has abundant sporting talents in rural areas who lack opportunities to excel. She praised FOSLA Academy's efforts in discovering and training young talents and pledged the university's commitment to fostering a stronger partnership with the academy.
Earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi highlighted the successful collaboration between the university and FOSLA Academy in a female football program, which led to the team's victory in a tournament in Lome, Togo.
In a related development, the university's Female Basketball team, "Lunar Wolves," was received by the Vice-Chancellor after winning bronze medals in a tournament organized by the Chief of Defence Staff in Abuja. Professor Liman praised the team's heroics and emphasized the importance of developing soft skills like entrepreneurship and sports to enhance students' future prospects.
The event concluded with the presentation of medals and tokens to the Lunar Wolves by the Vice-Chancellor.
