The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued an urgent directive to all Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities concerning the security of staff, students, and property in light of proposed nationwide protests.

In a memorandum dated July 28, 2024, Chris J. Maiyaki, Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC, informed university leaders of the government's concerns about potential risks associated with the protests.
