Nigerian Institute of Management Holds 2025 Management Day Lecture, Confers First Honorary Fellowship on Sultan of Sokoto

The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) marked its 2025 Management Day Lecture at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, with a landmark event that featured the inaugural conferment of an Honorary Fellowship on His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto.

“Sustainable and Purpose Driven Organizations: ESG, Circular Economy and Beyond” delivered by Mr. Olaniyi Lawal, Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (rtd), President and Chairman of Council, NIM, set the tone, urging the Federal Government to declare November 19 as National Management Day.

The Council of NIM unanimously approved the Sultan of Sokoto as the first honorary fellow, recognizing his contributions to professional management and governance.

In his speech, the Sultan commended NIM for advancing management practice since 1961 and called for better governance and management of Nigeria’s affairs.

Fellowships were awarded to deserving members, and long‑service awards were presented to staff with 10–25 years of service.

The event underscores NIM’s commitment to promoting sustainable leadership and the integration of ESG principles within Nigerian organizations and the broader economy .
