Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Unveils 2025/2026 Post-UTME Admission Screening Formula

The Management of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has released the official calculation formula for the 2025/2026 Post-UTME admissions screening exercise, ensuring transparency for the upcoming admission process.

The university community and the general public are informed that this automated system will integrate UTME and O'Level results for a fair and standardized screening.

Candidates are advised to visit accredited CBT centres or JAMB Offices to upload their O'Level results to JAMB CAPS Portal to be considered for the 2025/2026 admission exercise. To avoid disqualification, candidates must ensure their O'Level results are uploaded to both JAMB CAPS and UNIZIK Portals.

The screening process will evaluate candidates based on the following criteria:

- UTME Scores: The ratio will be 70:30, where 70% is the UTME score out of 400, and 30% is the O'Level subject score.

- Ranking of O'Level Results: Scores are assigned as follows: A1=90, B2=80, B3=70, C4=60, C5=55, C6=50, D7=8, E8=0, F9=0. The best four subjects, including English, will determine the O'Level score.

- Bonus Points: A single sitting earns 10 points, while two sittings receive no bonus (0 points).

The final screening score is calculated using the formula: (UTME Score * 0.7) + (O'Level Score + Bonus * 0.3).

An illustrative example provided by the university shows a student with a UTME score of 285 and O'Level results (Biology B5=70, Physics C4=60, Chemistry B2=80, totaling 285 out of 300). The final score is computed as: Weighted UTME Score (285 * 0.7 = 199.5) + Weighted O'Level Score (285 * 0.3 = 85.5), resulting in a total of 285. A difference of 3 indicates the student's final screening score aligns with the two-sitting criteria.

This structured approach, signed by Dr. Chinyere Gloria Okebe, Registrar, reflects UNIZIK’s commitment to a merit-based admission process.
