NOUN Vice-Chancellor Approves Strategic Extension of Staff School to Basic 9
The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Uduma Oji Udumai, has approved the extension of the NOUN Staff School (NSS) from Basic 6 to Basic 9.
The structural upgrade aligns the school with the Federal Government's revised National Policy on Education and Nigeria's current 9-3-4 educational framework.The initiative addresses long-standing demands from parents for academic continuity within a single, secure environment.Aligning with National Standards.
The revised national curriculum mandates nine years of continuous, uninterrupted basic education, which comprises six years of primary school and three years of Junior Secondary school (Basic 7–9).

Speaking on the development in Kaduna, the Director of the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), Dr. Amos Iliya, explained that integrating the junior secondary framework into the existing school setup ensures full compliance with ongoing national educational reforms. He noted that providing this stable learning environment will significantly boost student enrollment, optimize emotional stability, and drive institutional revenue growth.
