NSUK Professor Uche Uwaleke Appointed to Federal Government's Ministerial Economic Advisory Committee

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has recorded another milestone following the appointment of one of its distinguished scholars, Professor Uche Uwaleke, to the Federal Government's newly inaugurated Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) on the Economy.

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has recorded another milestone following the appointment of one of its distinguished scholars, Professor Uche Uwaleke, to the Federal Government's newly inaugurated Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) on the Economy.

The committee was inaugurated in Abuja by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele. It comprises leading economists, public finance experts, governance professionals and private sector leaders tasked with strengthening economic policymaking and accelerating the implementation of the Federal Government's fiscal reforms.

Professor Uwaleke, who is the President of the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMAN), a Professor of Capital Market and Director of the Institute of Capital Market Studies at Nasarawa State University, joins other members of the committee, including the Managing Director of Sterling Bank, Abubakar Suleiman; the Chief Executive Officer of Economic Associates, Dr. Ayo Teriba; and the Director-General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Dr. Chinyere Almona.

Speaking during the inauguration, Mr. Oyedele described the committee as a strategic public-private partnership established to bridge the gap between economic policy formulation and implementation. He said members would provide independent, evidence-based advice to support government decision-making and ensure that ongoing reforms deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.

According to the minister, the committee will assess the impact of government policies on businesses and households, recommend timely policy adjustments where necessary and provide strategic guidance on economic policy, fiscal management, stakeholder engagement and economic coordination. He added that the advisory body would play a key role in supporting the Federal Government's target of achieving a seven per cent annual economic growth rate and building a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030.

Professor Uwaleke's appointment reflects his longstanding contributions to economic research, capital market development and public policy in Nigeria. Widely recognised for his expertise in financial markets and fiscal policy, he has consistently contributed to national economic discourse through research and policy analysis.

The appointment also reinforces Nasarawa State University, Keffi's growing reputation as a centre for academic excellence, impactful research and national policy engagement, while highlighting the institution's commitment to producing scholars whose expertise contributes to national development and public policy.
