NUC Accreditation Teams Visit University of Delta for Programme Evaluations
The National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Teams for Statistics, Biotechnology, and Environmental Management & Toxicology (EMT), has visited the University of Delta for the accreditation of the 3 mentioned programs.
During a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, which took place in the Council Chambers, the Team Leads, who thanked the Management for the hospitality accorded them, said they were sent by the Executive Secretary of the NUC, to study and improve on the progress being recorded in the different Departments in UNIDEL.
Prof. Stephens Akpan, the Team Lead for Statistics posited that: "We are on national assignment, we are to accredit programmes because the NUC sent us; we have been given guidelines on how to operate, and we will follow the guidelines strictly, and make sure that at the end of the day, we shall seat down to look at it"
While welcoming the Teams, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patricia Mbah, thanked the visitors for coming to UNIDEL. She acknowledged the Executive Secretary of the NUC, for sticking to the NUC mandate of quality academic standard in Nigerian universities.
Prof. Stella Chiemeke also said that UNIDEL was very much aware of the regular annual activities of the NUC as a supervisorory agency for Nigerian universities; and wished the visitors well in their national assignments.
The accreditation team visited the University Main Library and other Departments connected to their mandates.
Other Management staff present at the visit included the Registrar, Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu, and the University Librarian Dr. Mrs. Vera Okonoko, .
Also at the visit were the Dean, Faculty of Science, Dr. Anthony Ukpene, Director of Academic Planning, Dr Felicia Mormah, HoD EMT, Dr. Omoruyi, HoD Statistics, Dr. Nwaka and Dr. Mrs Chinedu, HoD Biotechnology.
Prof. Muhammed D. Abubakar Bunza, of the Dept. of Biological Sciences, Federal University, Biram, Prof. Isoken Tito Aighewi, Department of EMT, University of Benin, were the other Team Leads in the delegation.
