NUC Approves Study Of Nupe, Tiv Languages In Universities

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has begun developing the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) for new programs in Nupe and Tiv languages in Nigerian universities. This initiative aims to preserve Nigeria's rich linguistic heritage and promote cultural identity.

The NUC has assembled a team of experts from various universities to design the CCMAS components for Bachelor of Arts degrees in Tiv and Nupe. The curriculum development meeting was held at the NUC Secretariat from October 21 to 24, 2025.
