OAU Management Proactively Addresses Campus Transportation Concerns, Deploys New CNG Bus Strategy
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has issued a formal response to student feedback regarding the institution's evolving transportation system, announcing a series of strategic adjustments to improve the commuting experience on campus.
In a statement released on April 6, 2026, the University administration acknowledged the discourse circulating on social media, particularly concerning the transition to a new fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Adeolu Odedire, emphasized that while the introduction of the donated CNG buses aims to enhance safety and environmental sustainability, the University recognizes the logistical challenges faced by students during this transition period.
"We are listening to our students, and their feedback is invaluable," Prof. Odedire stated. "The goal of modernizing our transportation is to provide a safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly service for everyone."
Prof. Odedire reaffirmed the administration's "point-by-point" engagement with student leaders to ensure a seamless transition. He noted that the CNG initiative is a significant step forward for campus life and that collaborative problem-solving remains the University’s priority.
Students are encouraged to continue utilizing official channels, including the Student Affairs portal, to provide constructive feedback as the new committee begins its work.
