Ogun Ministry of Education Assesses Needs and Projects at OGITECH in Historic Visit

The Rector of Ogun State Institute of Technology, OGITECH, Igbesa, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, on Tuesday received senior officials from the Department of Tertiary Education, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in his office.
The delegation's visit formed part of a state-wide initiative designed to familiarise the new Department of Tertiary Education with higher institutions across the state and gather comprehensive operational data to enable government respond more effectively to their pressing needs and structural challenges.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Oluseye noted that the visit marked the first official visit from the Ministry's Tertiary Unit since he assumed office as Rector in August 2023.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his commitment to advancing the state's educational sector and commended the appointment of Professor Abayomi Arigbabu as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, describing him as a round peg in a round hole whose impact is being felt across the state.
Outlining the objectives of the visit, the Director of Tertiary Education, Mr. Christopher Taiwo Adebayo, said the exercise was intended to achieve effective collaboration between the Ministry and OGITECH. He listed key priorities including aligning institutional goals with government objectives, recognising outstanding student achievements, assessing core institutional values, auditing staff capacity and identifying operational hurdles.
During the visit, the delegation inspected several ongoing construction projects within the campus and evaluated recent milestones achieved by the institute.
Dr. Oluseye highlighted the institution's major operational challenge as unstable power supply, which has resulted in exorbitant cost of fuel for generators. Despite the challenge, he outlined progress recorded under his leadership, including introduction of new academic programmes, construction of additional classrooms and laboratories, and implementation of comprehensive staff training initiatives to boost academic performance.
The visiting team was received alongside other principal officers including the Acting Registrar, Dr. Sakirat Olajumoke Johnson, the Bursar, Mr. Abdulsalam Yunus Ololade, as well as Deans and Directors of the institution.
