UCH Marks World Pharmacists Day 2026

The University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, has joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2026 World Pharmacists Day with the theme, Empowering Pharmacists for a Healthier Future.

The celebration, organised by the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria, AHAPN, UCH Chapter, commenced with a courtesy visit to the hospital management on Thursday led by its Chairman, Dr. Moses Ajayi.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ajayi said the association came to intimate management of the activities lined up for this year's celebration slated for Friday, September 25, 2026, and to appreciate management for its continuous support for pharmacy practice in the hospital.

In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, Prof. Olubukola Adesina, welcomed the pharmacists and congratulated them on the occasion.

Prof. Adesina recalled that World Pharmacists Day was celebrated last year in UCH with great impact, stressing that teamwork remains key to ensuring everyone benefits from quality healthcare.

She said, The role of pharmacy is of very key importance. As pharmacists, you ensure our patients benefit maximally through the right drug in the right dosage, duration, availability and accessibility for positive outcomes.

The tripod of clinical services, research and training, which is the mandate of this present administration, cannot be achieved without pharmacy. Pharmacy plays a vital role in sound healthcare service delivery.
