Prof. Haruna Musa Strengthens Students' Welfare with Three Additional BUK Tricycles

The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, BUK, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, has commissioned three additional tricycles to further enhance transportation services for staff and students across the University's New Campus.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held on Friday, 24 July 2026, at the Deanery of Student Affairs, Professor Haruna Musa said the expansion of the campus transport fleet reflects the University's commitment to prioritising students' welfare and providing safe, reliable and efficient transportation services.

The Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by Principal Officers of the University, commended the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Mukhtar Ridwan Bunza, for the transparent and efficient management of the campus tricycle scheme. He disclosed that the scheme generated ₦17 million within six months, from December 2025, describing the achievement as a demonstration of prudent management, accountability and effective utilisation of University resources.

Professor Musa explained that the impressive performance of the scheme encouraged the University Management to procure three additional tricycles to strengthen the existing transport fleet and respond to the growing mobility needs of the University community. 

He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to continuously investing in initiatives that promote the welfare of staff and students and create a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and campus life.

Earlier, the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Mukhtar Ridwan Bunza, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his continued support for student-centred initiatives. He assured the University Management of the Deanery's commitment to sustaining efforts aimed at improving students' welfare through safe, reliable and affordable inter- and intra-campus transportation.

Professor Bunza further confirmed that the transport fare remains ₦100 to any destination within the University campus for both staff and students, reinforcing the University's commitment to affordable and accessible mobility for the entire University community.
