The new Vice Chancellor, Prof Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo has assumed duties as the 6th substantive Vice Chancellor and the 3rd indigenous Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Oladipo, who assumed duty on the 5th of May, 2026, called on members of the University Community to support him in his mission to reposition the institution.

He traced the history of the institution from its days as Ogun State College of Education to Tai Solarin College of Education, Tai Solarin University of Education and finally to Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, describing the institution as a heritage from God that can never be destroyed. 

He cited the instance where the institution would have been scrapped, but for the intervention of Almighty God and the good people of Ogun State.

The new Vice Chancellor disclosed that his doors remain wide open for suggestions on how to move TASFUED forward.

"To those who competed with me for the office, there is no victor or vanquish", he added.

He thereafter unveiled an ambitious five-year strategic plan to break into the top 25 Universities in Nigeria, top 100 in Africa, and top 3,000 globally by 2031.

The vision, tagged “TASFUED Vision (2026–2031)”, was presented by the new substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo, following the institution’s adoption of federal status in 2025.

TASFUED is currently ranked between 55th and 72nd among Nigerian Universities, 446th in Africa, and beyond 6,000th globally, the University is banking on its newly unveiled STAR-WIN Agenda to drive what Prof. Oladipo described as a “defining moment” in the institution’s history.

Prof. Oladipo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, stated that the roadmap would pursue regular curriculum reviews aligned with global standards, new demand-driven programmes, Vocational training, and International accreditation. 

While speaking on research, the former Dean, College of Specialised and Professional Education ( COSPED) promised internal seed grants, upgrades to Directorates, innovation hubs and stronger intellectual property policies.

The roadmap also plans to enhance staff incentives, expand housing and hostel facilities, provide subsidised transport and wellness programmes, while constructing new lecture halls and equipping laboratories to international standards.

TASFUED holds the distinction of being Nigeria’s first University of Education, the second in Africa, and the eighth globally under the specialised Formula 1–2–8 model. 

The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that through institutional cohesion and strategic partnerships, the University would emerge by 2031 as a globally respected institution distinguished by academic excellence, digital innovation, and sustainable financing.

On hand, to receive Prof Oladipo were members of the University Management, the Provost, Postgraduate College, Deans of Colleges and Students' Affairs, Directors of Centres, Religious Leaders and the leadership of the Institution's Students' Union.
