Redeemer’s University Bursar Emerges Chairman of ICAN Osogbo and District Society

The Bursar of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Mr. Samuel Momodu, has been inaugurated as the sixth Chairman of the Osogbo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The Bursar of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Mr. Samuel Momodu, has been inaugurated as the sixth Chairman of the Osogbo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The investiture ceremony, held on June 20, 2026, at the Redeemer’s University Event Centre, attracted members of the university management, accounting professionals, financial experts, and leaders of the accounting profession from across the country.

Speaking at the event, the President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Chizuoke Alaribe, represented by a member of the Institute’s Governing Council, Mr. Biodun Adedeji, congratulated Mr. Momodu on his emergence as chairman, describing the achievement as a reflection of his professional competence, integrity, and leadership qualities.

According to the ICAN President, Mr. Momodu’s election was a testament to the credibility, dedication, and commitment he has consistently demonstrated throughout his career as a chartered accountant.

She also congratulated members of the newly inaugurated 2026/2027 executive council and expressed confidence that their leadership would make significant contributions to the growth of the Osogbo and District Society as well as the accounting profession.

The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, who attended the ceremony as the Special Guest of Honour, commended the new chairman and described the appointment as well deserved.

Prof. Akindele noted that Mr. Momodu has distinguished himself through effective financial management and strategic leadership in his role as the university's bursar.

"As the Bursar of Redeemer’s University, Mr. Momodu has consistently shown that effective financial management goes beyond numbers and compliance; it involves accountability, strategic thinking, prudent resource management, and a commitment to supporting the vision and mission of an institution," the Vice-Chancellor said.

He added that the new position within ICAN provides an opportunity for Mr. Momodu to further deploy his wealth of experience, leadership skills, and commitment to professional development in advancing the objectives of the district society.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Momodu pledged to work closely with members of the executive council and the wider accounting community to advance the district's goals and strengthen its impact within the profession.

He expressed optimism about the future of the district and assured members that the new leadership would pursue initiatives capable of taking the society to greater heights.

Mr. Momodu also acknowledged the support he has received from the Redeemer’s University community throughout his professional journey.

"I must also recognise the support of my chapter, the Redeemer’s University family, the platform upon which I stand. Your support made us stand out in the district. The Redeemer’s University and its management also played a great role in making us shine in the district, and we are grateful for this," he said.

The investiture marked the formal commencement of a new leadership era for the Osogbo and District Society of ICAN, with stakeholders expressing confidence that the incoming administration would strengthen professional excellence, mentorship, and capacity development among accountants within the district and beyond.
