Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Appoints Retired DSS Officer Gbehe Ingbian As Chief Security Officer

The Governing Council of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, has approved the appointment of Mr. Gbehe Simon Ingbian as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the University for a period of two years, with effect from 13th May, 2026.

The appointment was approved at the 153rd Meeting of the Governing Council held on Wednesday, 13th and Thursday, 14th May, 2026, following the consideration of the report of the interview panel constituted to fill the position of Chief Security Officer. Council endorsed the panel's recommendation and subsequently appointed Mr. Ingbian to the position.

As Chief Security Officer, Mr. Ingbian will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the effective administration and management of the University's Security Unit. He is expected to provide leadership in ensuring the safety of lives and property within the University community and to strengthen security measures across the institution.

Born on 16th July, 1963, Mr. Gbehe Simon Ingbian hails from Mbagbera in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State. He is married and blessed with two children.

A seasoned security professional with extensive experience in intelligence and security management, he possesses an impressive academic background. He obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University of Nigeria (2020–2025), having earlier earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in the same discipline from the institution (2014–2019). He also holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration from Dorben Polytechnic, Abuja (2009–2011), and a Diploma in Public Administration from the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura-Namoda (2002–2004). He attended Government Secondary School, Kuta, from 1977 to 1982 and completed his primary education at LGEA Primary School, Tusa, Mbagbera, between 1971 and 1977.

Mr. Ingbian began his career with the defunct Nigerian Security Organization (NSO) in 1983 before joining the Department of State Services (DSS) in 1986. During his distinguished career spanning over three decades, he rose through the ranks to become Principal Staff Officer (Administration) at the Benue State Command of the DSS before his retirement in 2018.

Throughout his service, he occupied several sensitive and strategic positions, including Deputy Director of Internal Security (DDIS) at the Calabar Seaport and Calabar Free Trade Zone; DSS Training Manager for the Inspectorate Directorate; Principal Staff Officer (Discipline) at the DSS National Headquarters, Abuja; and Principal Staff Officer (Administration), Benue State Command. He also served as Local Government Security Chief in Tsafe, Bukuyum, Gummi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, as well as Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In recognition of his dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to national security, Mr. Ingbian received several awards from the Director-General of the Department of State Services. These include the Award for Outstanding Performance in 2000 and a Certificate of Achievement for 21 Years of Meritorious Service without any adverse record in 2004.

A highly trained security expert, he has attended numerous professional courses and specialised training programmes both within and outside Nigeria, equipping him with vast knowledge and practical experience in intelligence gathering, conflict management, security administration and strategic leadership.
