The Sports Coordinator of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAU), Makurdi, Dr. Victor Terkimbi Ikpato, has pledged to expand sporting activities on campus to promote unity, social interaction, and holistic student development.

Dr. Ikpato made this commitment on Friday, 24th April, 2026, during the closing ceremony of the University’s Campus League Competition held at the University Football Pitch, Western Wing. He described sports as a vital component of university life, emphasizing its role in fostering discipline, teamwork, and healthy living among students.

 According to him, vibrant sporting programmes help keep students positively engaged, thereby reducing their exposure to social vices and other contemporary challenges. He assured the university community of his commitment to strengthening and expanding sports programmes during his tenure.

The Campus League, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious sporting competitions in the University, featured participation from various departments competing for honours. The tournament lived up to expectations, showcasing remarkable talent, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout its duration.

In a keenly contested final match, the Sociology Department team emerged champions after defeating the Human Kinetics and Health Education team 3–1 on penalties, following a 1–1 draw in regulation time. The victory sparked widespread jubilation among supporters as the team lifted the coveted trophy amid cheers and celebrations.

While congratulating the Sociology team on their well-deserved victory, Dr. Ikpato commended all participating teams for their discipline and sportsmanship, which contributed to the success of the tournament. He also appreciated the presence of students, staff, and football enthusiasts who graced the occasion, reaffirming that more engaging sporting events would be organized to further unite the university community.
