Vice-President Shettima Honours Pledge, Presents 40-Seater Electric Bus To Kashim Ibrahim University
Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Borno State, has received a brand-new 40-seater electric bus donated by the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, in fulfilment of his earlier promise to support the University's transportation needs.
The donation was formally presented by the Vice-President's representative, Musa Haruna Saleh, who invited the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, to test-run the bus.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation to the Vice-President for translating his promise into a tangible intervention, describing the donation as a demonstration of purposeful leadership and genuine commitment to the advancement of education.
Professor Gutti noted that the provision of the electric bus would significantly strengthen the University's transportation system, ease mobility challenges and contribute to a more convenient and supportive learning environment.
He also expressed appreciation to Engr. Mustapha Gajibo for donating a 40kW supercharger attached to the electric bus, describing it as a significant contribution towards ensuring efficient charging and sustainable utilisation of the vehicle.
Professor Gutti assured that the University would ensure proper utilisation and maintenance of the bus for the benefit of the University community.

He reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting the Federal Government's educational development agenda through quality teaching, research, innovation and production of graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The donation comes at a time when Kashim Ibrahim University is witnessing significant institutional growth, particularly in infrastructure development, expansion of academic programmes, and professional and NUC accreditation exercises.
It will be recalled that during the maiden combined Convocation Ceremony of KIU held in January, the Vice-President pledged to donate an electric vehicle to the University to ease students' transportation challenges.
