St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Ojoto, on 6th January 2026, recognized the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, with an award celebrating her outstanding magnanimity, compassion, and steadfast commitment to the welfare of people across all denominations.

The award was presented by the Vicar in charge of the church, Rev. Canon Henry Nwachukwu, during the priestly ordination thanksgiving service of Rev. Obinna Benjamin Nnoruka, husband to Mrs. Rita Nnoruka, Dr. Awuzie’s Personal Assistant. Rev. Nwachukwu commended the Rector for her selflessness, open-mindedness, and non-discriminatory policies, and assured her of the church’s continued support.

In her remarks, Dr. Awuzie expressed gratitude for the honour and reiterated her belief that Christians serve one God, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and non-discrimination. She assured the church that it will always have her attention and support.

The thanksgiving service marked a double priestly ordination for Rev. Obinna Nnoruka and his brother, Rev. Nnamdi Nnoruka, and was further highlighted by the celebration of their mother’s 83rd birthday. Rev. Obinna and Mrs. Rita Nnoruka expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Awuzie for her presence and support.
