Team Gencoach Wins Enugu Campus Hackathon at Godfrey Okoye University
Team Gencoach has emerged winner of the Enugu Campus Hackathon (GOUNI Pitch) held at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, after an intense contest showcasing creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.

The competition, sponsored by the Enugu State Government through the Enugu SME Agency and co-sponsored by The Garage, Genesys, and other partners, brought together students from various faculties, particularly the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies, to develop tech-driven solutions to real-world problems.
Declaring the competition open, the Director of Competitions, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu, urged students to embrace innovation, creativity, and continuous learning as essential tools for success in a rapidly evolving digital world. She emphasized that the hackathon was designed to challenge students’ coding and problem-solving abilities while identifying exceptional talents to represent the university at the state level.
After a series of rigorous presentations, Team Gencoach, led by Okolie Chikamjiaka Frances, emerged as the overall winner with an AI-powered learning platform featuring real-time voice interaction, multilingual support, and open-source integration.

Other standout teams included:
- Outreach (2nd place) – An anonymous mental health support platform with an SOS feature for users in distress.
- Netrobase (3rd place) – An automated CBT and grading system with cloud-based storage and LMS integration.
- FutureNow – After-school innovation labs promoting AI, coding, and entrepreneurship.
- Zempaa – An AI-based shopping platform offering social payments and voice-enabled assistance.
The top three teams received cheques of ₦750,000, ₦500,000, and ₦250,000 respectively, in recognition of their outstanding innovations and presentations.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy and MSMEs, Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, commended the participants for their ingenuity and reaffirmed the Enugu State Government’s commitment to empowering young people through technology and innovation.

The top five teams will advance to the statewide boot camp, where they will compete against other universities across Enugu State for a grand prize exceeding $100,000.
