Fourteen students from the University of Ibadan have emerged as recipients of the prestigious MTN Science and Technology Scholarship. The award ceremony, which also served as an alumni induction, took place in Lagos and was graced by the institution's Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu, fspsp.
The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship is targeted at students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The beneficiaries are selected from public universities, colleges of education, and polytechnics across Nigeria, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates from these fields are chosen.
Since its inception, the MTN Foundation has disbursed over 38 billion naira in scholarships to nearly five thousand students. The initiative aims to promote educational excellence and bridge skill gaps in Nigeria's technological landscape.
In addition to the financial award, scholars are given opportunities for personal development through the MTN Skill Up workshop upon graduation, equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive and contribute effectively to the Nigerian workforce.
