The pioneer set of 300-level nursing students of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, paid a thank-you visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, in her office.

Welcoming the students, Prof. Chiemeke expressed delight at their progress and commended the Head of the Department of Nursing Science, Prof. O. Okhiai, alongside other lecturers in the department, for their dedication. She assured the students that with the training they had received, they would become worthy ambassadors of the University.

“As you leave for your clinical studies, my prayer is that UNIDEL nursing students will be the best in Delta State,” she said, wishing the students and their lecturers continued success.

In his remarks, the University Registrar, Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, praised the Vice Chancellor for her “uncommon encouragement and passionate determination” in building UNIDEL into a model institution for the state.

Earlier, Prof. Okhiai explained that the visit was an expression of gratitude by the nursing students, who had begun their clinical postings, for the Vice Chancellor’s support in developing the programme. “What we have successfully exposed them to in theory, we are now complementing with practical skills,” he noted.

The event was attended by the University Librarian, Dr. Vera Okonoko; the Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Prof. J. C. Igweh; as well as members of staff including Igunbor Loveth, Mekomah-Obi Helyn, Asiwe Queen, and Evans-Olokor Rachel.
