The University of Ilorin Alumni Association has commended the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, for his remarkable support and participation in the 50th Anniversary Public Lecture and Award Ceremony of the University of Ilorin.

The National Executive of the Association, led by Professor Abdulrazaq Olubusuyi Kilani, expressed deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor through a message jointly signed by the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Professor S. D. Adekeye, and the Secretary, Dr. A. A. Showunmi.

According to the statement, Professor Akinwumi’s commitment and involvement significantly contributed to the success of the golden jubilee event. “Your participation in the maiden edition of the Alumni Public Lecture did not go unnoticed and has elevated our Association’s standing among Alumni bodies of Nigerian universities,” the statement read. It further expressed optimism that the Vice-Chancellor would continue to lend his support to future events.

His lecture, titled “Breaking the Barriers and Building the Future: A Historian’s Perspective of the University of Ilorin,” highlighted the institution’s historical evolution, resilience, and enduring legacy over the past five decades.
