The University of Maiduguri has inducted 79 new medical and dental practitioners into the profession during the College of Medical Sciences’ 16th BDS and 50th Batch “B” MBBS Attestation Ceremony held Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the University’s Convocation Square.

A total of 59 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduates and 20 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduates took the oath, bringing UNIMAID’s cumulative output to 3,471 medical doctors and 331 dental surgeons since inception.

Represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Babagana Bako, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele described the induction as the reward of “years of disciplined study, clinical training and personal sacrifice.” He urged the new doctors and dentists to practise with competence, compassion and integrity, placing patients’ welfare above personal interest.

“Medicine demands both skill and character. Be humble in success, honest in practice and diligent in learning,” Prof. Bako advised.
