The Africa Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Toxicological Research (ACE-PUTOR), University of Port Harcourt, has announced the commencement of postgraduate admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Centre, accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Royal Society of Biology, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates into its postgraduate programmes designed to produce highly skilled and motivated public health, toxicology, and nursing scholars for Africa.
Programmes Available
- Ph.D: Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Toxicology, Nutritional Biochemistry/Toxicology, Midwifery, Child Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing.
- M.Sc: Midwifery, Child Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Fertility Nursing, Environmental Petroleum Toxicology, One Health & Disease Modeling, Quality, Leadership and Innovation in Healthcare.
- PGD: Nursing, Environmental Petroleum Toxicology.
Admission Requirements
- PGD: HND with upper credit in related discipline, or a first degree in appropriate major with at least a Second Class Lower Division.
- M.Sc: B.Sc. degree in appropriate majors with at least a Second Class Lower Division.
- Ph.D: M.Sc. degree in appropriate majors with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
- All postgraduate nursing candidates must possess valid licenses from their professional bodies.
Programme Duration
- PGD/M.Sc (Full-time): 12 months
- PGD/M.Sc (Part-time): 24 months
- Ph.D (Full-time): 36 months
- Ph.D (Part-time): 48 months
Method of Application
Completed application forms, referee letters, and supporting documents must be submitted online or onsite at ACE-PUTOR. A non-refundable application fee is required. The deadline for submission is Friday, December 5, 2025.
