UNIPORT Department of Agricultural Extension Welcomes New Cohort with Strategic Orientation

Department of Agricultural Extension and Development Studies, University of Port Harcourt Holds Orientation Ceremony for her Year 1 Students.

On March 5, 2026, the Department of Agricultural Extension and Development Studies, University of Port Harcourt, welcomed its new batch of Year 1 students with an insightful orientation ceremony. The event aimed to acquaint the new change agents with the department's vision, staff, and university support systems. 

Highlights of the event included:

Welcome address by Head of Department, Dr. Ifeanyi Obi Chinwoke, congratulating the students on joining the department.

Introduction of teaching and non-teaching staff, followed by student introductions.

Keynote address by Prof. Olufemi Adesope (A renowned Professor of the department and member of the University Council) on the topic "Leveraging university support services and policies for a successful academic journey. He emphasized collaboration for degree attainment and balancing social and institutional capital.

Academic advising by the year 1 Academic advisor, Dr. Uzoamaka Ononogbo Akwiwu on course selection, registration, and balancing academics & personal life.

 Recognition of outstanding graduands who contributed to the growth and development of AgriEcho, the department's media outfit.

The event concluded with the Head of Department reminding the students to be change agents and represent the department positively.
