University of Abuja Students Sweep Top Prizes at Bartender Academy Cocktail Competition

Three students of the University of Abuja emerged winners at the Bartender Academy Cocktail Competition held during the IHTEF Hospitality Sustainable Summit – Africa 2026 in Abuja over the weekend.

Victoria Isu, a 100-level student of Hospitality and Tourism Management, won the top prize of ₦1 million, while fellow students Ndubisi Chinenye and Bayo Damilola secured second and third positions respectively, winning ₦500,000 each.

The competition featured contestants from different institutions who engaged in practical cocktail preparation using Schweppes products.

The students participated in a two-day programme that included workshops, practical demonstrations, and hands-on training facilitated by hospitality professionals.

Speaking after the event, the students described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, noting that the competition boosted their confidence and strengthened their creativity and practical industry skills.

Receiving them in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue making the University proud.
