The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Professor Francisca Bassey, has commended staff and students of the Department of Visual Arts Technology for their outstanding creativity and consistent efforts in projecting a positive image of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Professor Francisca Bassey, has commended staff and students of the Department of Visual Arts Technology for their outstanding creativity and consistent efforts in projecting a positive image of the institution.

The commendation was delivered on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the closing ceremony of the annual exhibition of final-year students’ practical projects. Professor Bassey, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Stella Maris-Okey, encouraged the department to package some of the showcased works for presentation to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, as well as to his wife, Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu.

According to her, “The Governor needs to know what is happening here, just like he knew about the innovative inventions of Prof. Babson Ajibade and Dr. Joseph Ukpata when our Vice Chancellor led them to present their innovations to him. With your work, UNICROSS will go places.”

Professor Maris-Okey assured the students that the Vice Chancellor is committed to their growth and to ensuring that the Department of Visual Arts Technology benefits from the university’s ongoing positive transformation.

In her remarks, the Acting Head of Department, Mrs. Emekpe Omon (represented by Dr. Umana Nnochiri), explained that the annual exhibition provides a platform for final-year students to showcase their creativity, innovation, and research efforts to the public. She emphasized that Visual Arts Technology at UNICROSS integrates theory with practice, noting: “We are not just visual artists. We are also engineers and innovative thinkers. We combine multiple disciplines to achieve beautiful results, as our students have exhibited here.”

The University congratulates the Department of Visual Arts Technology on the successful conclusion of this academic session’s exhibition.
