University of Maiduguri Honors Retiring Library Staff in a Grand Send-Off Ceremony

The Ramat Library of the University of Maiduguri hosted a vibrant and memorable send-off ceremony on Thursday, January 29, 2026 in honor of its retiring staff members: Mr Bukar Adam, Mrs Rose Ada Emejo, Mr Asokwu E. Akpan and Mr Bulama Usman in recognition of their years of dedicated and selfless service to the institution.

The event, held at the Ramat Library, was marked by gratitude, heartfelt tributes, and joyful celebrations of commitment to knowledge, learning, and academic excellence.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services), Professor Mohammed Ahmed Waziri, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was represented at the event by Professor Mohammed Bukar, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Maiduguri, who noted that it is not a farewell, but it is a celebration of years of dedication, quiet sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to knowledge, learning, and academic excellence.

He maintained that libraries are the heart of any university, and for many years, you have been the custodians of that heart. You have guided students, supported researchers, preserved records, and ensured that the light of knowledge never dimmed in our dear institution.

Professor Bukar further noted that the ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the retirees, one filled with rest, fulfillment, and the satisfaction of having made significant contributions to the growth of the university.

Professor Bukar also commended the University Librarian, Dr. Talatu Rabasa, for her effective coordination of the ceremony, describing it as a clear demonstration of her commitment to staff welfare and recognition of dedicated service.

Speaking at the ceremony, the University Librarian, Dr. Talatu Rabasa expressed deep appreciation to the retiring staff for their commitment, professionalism, and loyalty to the university over the years. And the University she said is grateful for their years of selfless service to this great institution. Added that their dedication, integrity, and hard work have left lasting footprints in the University of Maiduguri. 

She, therefore, on behalf of the university management and the entire library community thanked the retiring staffs for invaluable contributions."
