The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has commenced the marking of answer scripts for the 2026 May/June Computer-Based WASSCE across more than 85 marking centres nationwide.

WAEC has commenced the marking of the 2026 May/June WASSCE answer scripts across over 85 centres nationwide. Results for nearly 2 million candidates are expected within 45 days after the last examination.

Myschoolnews gathered that coordination and marking of the school candidates’ answer scripts would start this week.

According to our source, the examiners would carry out the marking at over 85 marking venues spread across the country.

The marking of 1,959,636 candidates answer scripts from 24,207 schools that sat for the May/June CB-WASSCE 2026 would start after the chief examiners and team leaders had met.

The marking of the answer scripts is to maintain the policy of the council releasing candidates’ results 45 days after the conduct of the last paper.

WAEC Head of Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, while announcing the conduct of the CB-WASSCE on Monday, May 11th, 2026, said results would be released within 45 days after the last paper was written.

He said “1,959,636 candidates from 24,207 schools enrolled for the examination. Of this number, 958,564 candidates (48.92%) are male, while 1,001,072 candidates (51.08%) are female. This reflects an increase in female participation and a decline in male participation compared to last year

“Candidates will be examined in 37 subjects, comprising 97 papers. About 29,000 senior secondary school teachers, nominated by various Ministries of Education, are participating as supervisors.

“Results will be released 45 days after the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools within 90 days. Digital copies of certificates will also be available via the WAEC Digital Certificate platform.”

Recalled that the computer-based WASSCE for school candidates commenced on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with practicals, and ended on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Many of the SS3 students wrote the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board (UTME) as awaiting result candidates and would require the results for admissions into the tertiary institutions.
