24-year-old Kwara Poly Fresh Graduate Stabbed to Death by Cousin

A devastating incident has shaken the Kwara State Polytechnic community in Ilorin, Kwara State. Wuraola Adeoye, a 24-year-old fresh graduate of Mass Communication, was allegedly stabbed to death by her cousin, Adunni, in their shared apartment.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2025, around 7 pm at their residence in the Adewole area of Ilorin.

According to eyewitnesses, a verbal altercation between the two cousins escalated, resulting in Adunni stabbing Wuraola with a pair of scissors. The wound was deep and life-threatening, causing massive blood loss before help arrived. Neighbors reported that Adunni initially refused to call for medical assistance, but a resident eventually rushed Wuraola to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her life, including a blood transfusion, Wuraola was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Adunni allegedly fled the scene before police arrived, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend her. The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed that a homicide investigation is active, and authorities are urging anyone with information about Adunni's whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Kwara Poly community, with classmates, friends, and sympathizers mourning Wuraola's untimely demise on social media. The Kwara Polytechnic Student Union has called for better conflict resolution awareness and mental health interventions within families.

Wuraola was described by classmates as "brilliant, cheerful, and full of promise." She had recently completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) program and was looking forward to her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posting. Her tragic death has left a void in the community, and efforts are being made to ensure justice is served
