24-Year-Old NYSC Member Declared Missing in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the disappearance of Levi Anyanwu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at Ijaw National Academy in Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Anyanwu was last seen on October 8, 2025. According to police investigations, he had been staying with fellow Jehovah's Witnesses, Mr. and Mrs. Wisdom George, before his disappearance. Anyanwu had complained of illness and was taken to the Kaiama Referral Hospital for treatment. He was discharged but went missing shortly after.

The police have ruled out kidnapping as a motive, citing evidence that suggests personal or religious factors may be behind Anyanwu's disappearance. In a surprising twist, detectives discovered that two inmates in Ogun State allegedly attempted to scam Anyanwu's father by pretending he had been kidnapped and demanding a ₦100,000 ransom .

The Bayelsa State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to locate Anyanwu and uncover the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. The investigation is still underway .
