The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University has approved the appointment of two senior academics into key leadership positions following an emergency meeting held on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Appointed are Prof. Afolake Atinuke Olanbiwoninu of the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and Prof. Adeyemi Olukayode Binuyo of the Department of Mathematics as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
Both appointments were formally communicated through separate memos signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun, and are effective following their election at a special Senate meeting held on February 23, 2026.

According to the Council’s resolution, the appointments carry an initial tenure of two years, renewable for an additional two-year term, in line with the provisions of the University Law (2003).
The memo further clarified that the Deputy Vice-Chancellors are expected to support the Vice-Chancellor in the daily administration of the institution, alongside executing other responsibilities as delegated by the university leadership.
The development reflects ongoing governance adjustments within the university aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and academic coordination at senior management level.
