AKCILS Ag. Provost Honours Security Officer for Dedication and Outstanding Performance

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az, has honoured a distinguished security officer of the College, Malam Murtala Idris, in recognition of his exemplary dedication, exceptional performance and steadfast commitment to duty.

The award ceremony, held at the College on Monday, September 22, 2026, was attended by members of the Management, staff and the security corps.

Presenting the award, Dr. Mu'az stated that the gesture was in consonance with the Kano State Government's policy, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, of rewarding diligence, integrity and commitment as a strategy for motivating personnel towards greater productivity.

The Acting Provost eulogized Malam Murtala Idris for his industry, honesty and professionalism, describing him as an energetic and dependable officer who has consistently demonstrated an uncommon sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties.

Recounting his personal observation during his tenure as Director of Security Services of the College, Dr. Mu'az said:

"I can vividly recall that during my stewardship as Director of Security of the College, I consistently found Murtala Idris vigilant and steadfast at his duty post throughout the night, without recourse to sleep."

He described Murtala as one of the most outstanding security officers of the College and enjoined other members of staff to emulate his sincerity, discipline and unwavering commitment.

While commending the entire security personnel for their sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property, the Acting Provost called on all staff to extend maximum cooperation and support to the Security Directorate for effective service delivery. He further assured that the College Management would sustain its policy of recognizing and rewarding dedicated, honest and hardworking personnel.

In recognition of his meritorious service, the College Management approved the elevation of Malam Murtala Idris from Senior Headshift to Chief Headshift, with an accompanying cash award of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) and a Letter of Commendation.

In his remarks, the Director of Security, Malam Farouk Muhammad, disclosed that Malam Murtala Idris has served the College meritoriously for twenty-two (22) years without any adverse record, describing him as patient, disciplined and deeply committed.

He noted that the Security Directorate has undergone significant transformation through regular sensitization workshops and rigorous training programmes for its personnel to ensure efficiency and professionalism. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the utmost security of the College community through professionalism and proactive measures.

The Chairman of the Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education, Nigeria (SSUCOEN), AKCILS Chapter, Barrister Isa Tudun Wada, commended the Management for honouring one of its members, describing the initiative as commendable and capable of inspiring staff to render selfless and optimal service.

Similarly, the Registrar of the College, Hajiya Raliya Aliyu Abubakar, FNIM, described the occasion as historic and lauded the Acting Provost for institutionalizing a culture of recognition and rewarding excellence.

She urged members of staff to emulate the virtues of hard work, honesty and dedication exhibited by Malam Murtala, emphasizing that collective commitment remains indispensable for propelling the College to greater heights.
