APWEN Secures Igbinedion University Backing for New Collegiate Chapter

Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), on Friday, November 7, 2025, received a delegation from the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Benin Chapter, as part of preparations to inaugurate a new collegiate chapter at the University.

Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), on Friday, November 7, 2025, received a delegation from the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Benin Chapter, as part of preparations to inaugurate a new collegiate chapter at the University.

The delegation was led by APWEN Benin Chapter Chairman, Engr. (Mrs.) Oby Obeta, MNSE, and included the IUO Staff Coordinator for the chapter, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Maryann O. Ezugwu, FNSE, along with student representatives from the College of Engineering. The visit aimed to formally secure IUO’s approval for the upcoming inauguration ceremony and to promote APWEN’s mission of empowering female engineering students to achieve academic and professional excellence.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence I. Ezemonye, FAS, who also serves as Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors, commended APWEN for its initiative and pledged the University’s continued support for programs advancing women in engineering. Discussions during the visit focused on collaboration in mentorship, fostering academic excellence, and supporting the professional growth of female engineering students.
