ASUU IBBUL Branch Elects New Leaders

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai Branch, has successfully concluded its 2025 elections, ushering in a new leadership team.

The elections, which saw 202 accredited voters cast their ballots, were keenly contested, with the results reflecting the members' confidence in their chosen leaders.

The newly elected executive members include:

- Chairman: Dr. Galadima Audu Bala (Department of Mass Communication) - 121 votes

- Vice Chairman: Dr. M J Lakan - 175 "Yes" votes

- Secretary-General: Dr. Juliana Dauda - 179 "Yes" votes

- Treasurer: Dr. Iliyasu Ahamed - 112 votes

The National President of ASUU, Professor Chris Piwuna, represented by the Abuja Zonal Coordinator, Dr. A.A. Abdullahi, commended the IBBUL branch for conducting a smooth and democratic election. He urged the newly elected leaders to prioritize inclusiveness, unity, and the welfare of members.

Dr. Galadima Audu Bala expressed gratitude to the Congress for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to provide transparent and accountable leadership. He assured members that his administration would prioritize their welfare, defend their rights, and work closely with stakeholders to advance the union's interests.

The new leadership team is expected to serve for the next two years, working to promote the interests of ASUU members and the university community. With a strong mandate from the members, they are poised to make a positive impact on the institution.
