ATBUTH Bauchi Medical Practitioners Attain Prestigious QAA Certification in Medicine and Geriatric Social Care
Two doctors from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, have distinguished themselves by successfully completing the Quality Assurance Assessor’s (QAA) training in Medicine and Geriatric Social Care, thereby joining an elite group of certified professionals in Nigeria.
Dr. Muhammad Dauda Haruna and Dr. Attahiru Muhammad are now among only 48 medical professionals nationwide who have been awarded the QAA certification out of more than 3,000 assessors trained across the country since the program began 13 years ago. Their certification places them within the second cohort of this select cadre of experts.
The achievement aligns them with prominent figures in the Nigerian medical landscape, including Prof. Itab Bassey Okokon, a veteran Family Physician with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital; Prof. Obehi A. Akoria, a Geriatrician at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and Chairperson of the NPMCN; and Prof. Christopher G. Piwuna, a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Jos.
While receiving the certificates, the Chief Medical Director of ATBUTH, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, congratulated the doctors and assured them of the hospital’s continuous support. He emphasized that the Geriatric Unit, established under his administration, along with other departments and staff, would continue to receive the necessary backing to achieve similar milestones in advancing healthcare excellence.
