Bayero University Kano Clinches Northwest 3x3 Basketball Championship

The victorious basketball team of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has presented their championship trophy to the Vice-Chancellor, Haruna Musa, following their outstanding triumph at the Northwest 3×3 Basketball Championship hosted by Ahmadu Bello University.

Competing against six universities across Northern Nigeria, BUK went undefeated in all six games, sealing the title with a thrilling 20–18 victory over ABU Zaria in the final.

Tournament Highlights:

✔ 10–0 vs Northwest University, Kano

✔ 33–20 vs Air Force Institute of Technology

✔ 11–9 vs Federal University of Education, Kano

✔ 10–0 vs Federal University of Transportation, Daura

✔ 20–18 vs ABU (Final).

This marks BUK’s second championship win in the competition’s history — a clear statement of dominance.

Receiving the team, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the athletes for making the university proud and urged them to sustain and surpass the current momentum. He reaffirmed Management’s commitment to strengthening sports development and pledged continued institutional and individual support for the players’ sporting careers.

The presentation ceremony concluded with the official handover of the trophy and cash rewards to the athletes — a recognition of discipline, teamwork, and excellence.
