BOUESTI Governing Council Appoints Dr Margaret Omisope as Second Substantive Bursar

The Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), has appointed Dr Margaret Bosede Omisope as the institution's second substantive Bursar.

Her appointment was approved at the Council's statutory meeting held on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Dr Omisope, a seasoned accounting professional, is currently the Deputy Bursar I at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). She joined FUNAAB in 1999 as an Accountant II in the Bursary Department and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Bursar I in 2024. During her career, she served across various divisions of the department and also served as Acting Managing Director of UNAAB Microfinance Bank.

In a statement, the acting head of FUNAAB's Directorate of Public Relations, Mr Olasunkanmi Olajide, described the appointment as recognition of her professional competence, dedication to service and extensive experience in university financial administration.

FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor, Prof Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated Dr Omisope, describing her appointment as well-deserved and expressing confidence that her experience, academic qualifications and administrative capacity would contribute significantly to BOUESTI's financial management and institutional development.

*Academic and Professional Profile*

Dr Omisope is an indigene of Ado-Ekiti. She started her education at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School, Ado-Ekiti, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1980, and attended Christ Girls' School, Ado-Ekiti and Abadina College, University of Ibadan for her secondary education.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Ondo State University, now Ekiti State University, in 1998, an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now EKSU, in 2003, an MSc in Accounting from Babcock University in 2022, and a PhD in Accounting from the same institution in 2026.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), she is also a member of several professional bodies including the Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. She also holds a certification from the Bureau of Public Procurement obtained in 2013.
