BUK Hosts 2025 NUGA Athletes as Volleyball Coach Dedicates Historic Gold Medal to VC
Bayero University Kano has hosted its athletes who represented the institution at the 2025 Nigerian Universities Games Association competition, celebrating their outstanding performance and reaffirming the university’s commitment to sports development.
The reception, held on Thursday, 18th December, 2025 brought together university management, Chairman Sports Consultative Committee, Prof Musa Garba Yakasai, Director of Sports, Prof Rabiu Mohammed, members of Sports Consultative Committee, Coaches, athletes and members of the Sports Directorate to honour the teams that competed at the University of Jos.
While appreciating the athletes, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi commended the Sports Directorate, management staff and students for projecting the university positively at the national level.
He described the athletes’ performance as a reflection of discipline, dedication and teamwork, assuring them of the administration’s continued support for sports development as the university works towards reclaiming its past sporting glory.
Professor Musa congratulated all the teams for their resilience and commitment throughout the competition and urged them to sustain the momentum in future outings. He emphasized that sports remain an important platform for talent development, unity and institutional pride.
The event also provided a moment of recognition for a historic milestone in the university’s sporting journey, as the BUK Volleyball Coach, Usman Abdallah formally dedicated the institution’s first-ever gold medal in volleyball at the Nigerian Universities Games to the Vice-Chancellor. The coach described the achievement as a product of consistent encouragement, improved welfare and institutional backing from the university leadership.
Bayero University Kano participated in the 2025 NUGA Games held at the University of Jos between the 5th and 16th of November, competing in 13 sporting events including volleyball, handball, football and taekwondo.
