The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has alerted the University community to a fake circular currently in circulation on social media, falsely directing students—particularly those from the former Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies—to pay a mandatory fee of N50,000 on or before 1st December 2025.

The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has alerted the University community to a fake circular currently in circulation on social media, falsely directing students—particularly those from the former Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies—to pay a mandatory fee of N50,000 on or before 1st December 2025.

The fraudulent notice bears a forged signature attributed to one Saifullahi Dahiru, claiming to act “For Registrar.”

The misleading message specifically referenced the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Languages, Linguistics and Theatre Arts
  • Faculty of History and Development Studies
  • Faculty of Islamic Studies and Sharia

The University has issued a clear and firm disclaimer, stating that:

  1. The circular is entirely fake.
  2. No payment of such nature has been approved, authorised, or announced by any official body of the University.
  3. Students are strongly advised to disregard the message, as it did not emanate from the Office of the Registrar nor any recognised University authority.
  4. BUK does not disseminate financial directives through random social media posts or through unauthorised individuals.

Management urges students, parents, and the general public to remain vigilant and always verify information through the University’s official communication channels, including the University website, the Directorate of Public Affairs, and accredited faculty offices.

Bayero University reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding its community against misinformation and warned that appropriate action will be taken against those attempting to mislead or exploit students.

Members of the University community are advised to rely exclusively on official announcements for accurate guidance.
