COOU VC Attends China’s 77th Anniversary, Secures $30,000 Equipment Support for University

The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, has disclosed that the university has secured a pledge of equipment worth $30,000 from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to support its development and advancement.

The Vice-Chancellor made the disclosure during the university's 35th Inaugural Lecture, delivered by Prof. Charity Ifeyinwa Emelie at the ETF Auditorium.

The development came shortly after Prof. Omenugha announced the approval of the 16 academic programmes that recently underwent the National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification exercise.

She disclosed that she had been invited to and attended the 77th Anniversary celebration of the People's Republic of China, describing the engagement as another reflection of the growing visibility COOU is gaining beyond Nigeria.

The engagement also resulted in a significant development for the university, as the Embassy of the People's Republic of China pledged to provide COOU with equipment worth $30,000 to support the institution's development and advancement.

The development further reinforces the significance of the university's 3Vs mantra, Values, Viability and Visibility, which continues to shape its engagements, partnerships and institutional growth.

Beyond serving as a guiding philosophy, the 3Vs are increasingly becoming a practical framework through which the university is building stronger visibility, expanding opportunities and attracting valuable partnerships.

The latest development, coming alongside the approval of the 16 academic programmes, adds another positive dimension to the university's continuing expansion and growing engagements on the international stage.
